Message From The Artist
I was born in Baltimore, Maryland and have lived in Maryland all my life.
From an early age, I started drawing and painting. By spending many
weekends doing art shows, festivals and special events I was able to get a
lot of exposure for my work. I also used my creative ability to sketch
portraits, which at first were my main focus. As I continued to grow with
my art, people often said to me “Your out-going spirit shows in your work!
Prompted by compliments, praise and encouragement, I decided to do some
soul searching into my real talent and natural ability. I realized that
I was naturally gifted and that I usually saw my paintings in a vision
before I painted them. Once the vision came to me, I would paint from
my soul. That was when I painted my signature piece, the painting called
Sleep On It. I never pondered over color, subject matter, or anything
else, the work just flowed as my spirit felt it. Sleep On It was a tremendous
success it also influenced my work. I became completely uninhibited. I
began painting my visions with all the emotions I felt.
My desire is to let people see and feel the spiritual side of art, just
like I do. I feel I can give people this experience by creating art in
my style of expression. I try to make my titles, inspirational, motivational,
humorous and spiritual. I want the titles to blend in with the paintings
like an oral and visual message that uplifts the spirit.
I paint mostly at night I mean very late at night, while watching my favorite
shows on the History channel, not to forget my favorite comedian, Fred
Sanford in Sanford and Son! For some reason my creative juices really
flow late at night. My subject matter comes from everyday life, and everyday
life with catchy words and phrases, which we often use! My colors are
always used without thought they just come naturally to me.
I believe God has blessed me with a talent to take the art world to another
level through expressive visions, the use of color and an art form that
touches the spirit and soul.
When people ask me questions about myself. I tell them that I am normally
“a happy person with many visions of life.” Some people want
to know where I get my inspiration and I tell them “when I see a
vision that can touch someone, make them smile, give them hope, that’s
my inspiration.”
I feel we are going through a new age, a time for change in the art world
as we look toward the future. I feel my art is revolutionary, it has no
rules it is free, it pulls at the spirit and makes you reflect, it energizes,
motivates, humors, satisfies, stimulates, awakens, evokes, reminds, pacifies,
and it makes people happy! I believe my art form will impact generations
to come. A customer once described my work by saying “ while appearing
simple it holds a complexity of color, blended with emotion, and all in
amazing harmony.”
MY PAINTING TITLED
" SLEEP ON IT "
Sleep On It is my signature piece. I playfully call it the grandfather
of all my works. Painted in 1996, it is the piece that has strongly
influenced me to transform my style. It represents the beginning to
infinity of my work. It literally showed me how to create within
myself and to open my mind and to expose to the world some of the visions
that we all keep inside. It allowed me to create My World of
Art which I hope hope to share with you.
Make sure Sleep On
It is part of your collection. It is very special to me!
